Direct payments are local council payments for people who have been assessed as needing help from social services, and who would like to arrange and pay for their own care and support services instead of receiving them directly from the local council.
Everyone will be offered this option after a social services assessment, and for those people who choose direct payments it will give them greater choice and control over the support they receive.
Requirements by Law
Direct Payments can only be used to meet your assessed needs. If you are over 18 years or over, you can see if you may be eligible for support from the council by using the on-line assessment form:

The law says you must be offered a Direct Payment if KCC would normally provide a service or equipment to meet your needs. (See the above restrictions about who can receive payments).
The money is an alternative to having services or equipment provided by the council.
You could have some of your support provided by Social Services and arrange some yourself using a Direct Payment.
You must be able to satisfy the council that you are meeting your assessed needs with the money.

Telephone us on 01580 762244 to arrange to receive our Private Care Service in your own home, giving you support and help that can help you remain in your own home for longer rather than entering a care home before it is really needed.
Every 4 weeks we will send you an invoice for the care you have received, we can then speak to you on the telephone and take payment from your Kent Card making it a simple and convenient way to pay for your care.
